Mid-century classic with original architectural details worth preserving.
A full restoration that honors the original architecture: 2.25” solid white oak brought back to life, walnut border inlays highlighted room-by-room, and finished with a modern matte oil system for a clean, sophisticated look.
The original charm of this mid-century classic home was brought back to life with a full hardwood floor restoration.
We refinished the 2.25″ solid white oak planks and preserved the unique character of the space by highlighting the 0.75″ walnut border inlays around each room — a design detail that adds contrast, elegance, and architectural interest.
Border inlays are one of those rare details you don’t want to “sand away” or blend into the background.
In this home, the 0.75″ walnut border frames each space, adds definition, and creates a subtle, high-end contrast against white oak.
The walnut border outlines each room and makes the layout feel intentional and finished.
A period-correct detail that keeps the home’s original design language intact.
Walnut + white oak creates calm warmth and visual depth without heavy color.
To finish the project, we applied WOCA Diamond Oil Active in Sand Gray, a high-performance natural oil that offers a matte, contemporary finish while enhancing the wood’s texture and tone.
The result is a smooth, sophisticated floor that honors the home’s mid-century lines, highlights the walnut inlay detailing, and adds a clean, contemporary matte finish built for real life.
Matte oils and sealers can look very different depending on species, light, and grain.
