When a Carnation family reached out to LUKS Construction, their vision was clear: they wanted their engineered white oak to feel brighter and more Scandinavian-inspired, while staying eco-friendly and safe for kids and pets.
The challenge was common: the existing floor had lost its luster, and the homeowners wanted a light, airy aesthetic that would amplify natural light — without harsh odors or a long “move-out” style disruption. HOW IT WAS DONE
The refinishing process: precision meets artistry
This project was all about clean prep and controlled color. Engineered white oak can look incredible after refinishing — but the key is consistent sanding, the right stain strength, and a sealing system that locks in the tone without yellowing.
1) Dust-controlled sanding
We used a dust-containment sanding system to create a smooth, uniform surface while keeping the home noticeably cleaner — ideal for families with children, pets, or sensitivities.
2) Bona White Stain
A subtle white stain brightened the wood without hiding the grain. The goal was “light and natural,” not painted or cloudy.
3) NordicSeal + Traffic HD
Two coats of Bona NordicSeal enhanced the Scandinavian vibe, then Bona Traffic HD sealed everything with durable, crystal-clear protection.
